One of the many attractions of the much loved Austin 7 is the ease of maintenance and restoration.

Every conceivable spare part remains readily available and the level of knowledge and expertise that exists is extraordinary. Herbert Austin couldn’t have imagined what an impact his little car would still be having more than 90 years after its launch, the Baby Austin remaining as popular as ever.

In fact it’s hard to think of an Austin 7 component that can’t be ordered online to arrive within 24 hours, at a very modest cost too. Just as well for the new owner of this project, which is offered in a completely dismantled state!

The major chassis components are present, including a crankcase, block, four-speed gearbox and correct rear axle. There are four wheels and numerous small parts as well as the attractive Austin radiator surround. The saloon body needs a good deal of work and retains its bonnet but sadly no doors.

Still eminently restorable thanks to the excellent back-up, it looks like the ultimate Meccano set for someone with a bit of time on their hands – they don’t even need a particularly big workshop.

There is no paperwork with the vehicle and bidders are advised that the Anglesey-issued registration number shown on the number plates in the photographs is no longer recognised by the DVLA. Not for the faint hearted, this major project is offered at no reserve so the best bid takes it away.
