Introduced in June 1966, the P50 was the last motor-wheel design from Honda and probably any other large scale manufacturer.
Following the earlier motor-wheel designs that hark back to the earlier part of the 20th century with the likes of the Wall auto-wheel and the subsequent 1950's boom of the cyclemaster and winged wheel, Honda brought the design bang up to date.
The new Honda machine featured a step-through frame and a 1.2bhp 49cc four-stroke engine enclosed within the rear wheel of a pressed-steel frame featuring leading link suspension. All up weight was a mere 99lbs (dry weight) due in part to the use of plastics for items such as the mudguards. Only in production from 1966 to 1968, this well made little machine is one of the quirkier designs to emanate from Honda.
