International-Harvester introduced their new B414 in 1961, replacing the B275 with a machine of the same compact dimensions, fitted with a more powerful 2,545cc four-cylinder diesel engine.
Delivering a competitive 36 PTO horsepower and with eight speeds, it offered a highly attractive specification, including an adjustable front axle and full depth control at a price that undercut the Massey Ferguson 35 by a significant margin. Built at their plant in Bradford, the British farmer could feel good about buying a locally made machine and got a very strong and reliable workhorse in return.
This beautifully presented B414 has been comprehensively restored retaining its original tin panels which have been professionally painted in two-pack paint. New decals, lights and a fresh set of tyres have returned it to showroom condition, the owner having given it a thorough mechanical check-over in the process.
Registered for the road, this B414 offers a good turn of speed which makes tractor road-runs a pleasure, its high seating position, excellent visibility and useful size making this model particularly popular with those who compete in the increasingly popular sport of competition ploughing.
